A long time ago, in a sewing room far, far away…
Written by Peg on September 1st, 2008The following is the first in a series of Internet reruns—pages that first appeared in my old website, completeEDITion.com. I kind of liked them (and they were already written!), so I’ll just add them here every now and again. Eventually, we’ll catch up and you’ll be able to see what I’m doing now.

Zack's puppy
I first started making quilts nearly 30 years ago—in fact, I just found the squares I had cut back then for a quilt for my youngest son. Like many things, quilting got pushed aside in my pursuit of a daily wage and an education (or two).
I took it up again in a serious way about in 2001, made several quilts in 2002, made pretty much nothing in 2003 and most of 2004. Part of the problem I faced was the space I had to work in and part was just the demands of my job: I was simply too tired at night to think about anything challenging.
But in the past few years, I’ve accumulated tools, books, patterns, a growing “stash,” and even a new sewing machine. I’ve finished several quilts, have several more seriously planned (i.e., with fabric already purchased), and a host more in the incubation stages.
As a person with no native artistic ability in the traditional sense, I find that quilt-making offers me—through my choices of fabric, piecing design, and quilting pattern—the chance to make something truly unique and often, truly beautiful. It’s a wonderful—and very addicting—process.
The nicest thing about having your own web site blog is that it allows you to share with others those things that mean the most to you. I hope you enjoy seeing the quilts I’ve made, those that I hope to make, and others that I’ve photographed at quilt shows. I’ve also decided to gather up some of my favorite quilting links, in hopes that you might find something useful.
